53 shows. 20 cities. 5 months. We’ve all heard about the economic impact of The Eras Tour in the U.S. — how the in-demand tour boosted tourism, contributed to local businesses and even how Swift herself donated to food banks at every stop. We know this because newsrooms in every city covered the tour like it was a Super Bowl. We wanted to turn the angle on this just a bit and chat with local newsrooms about the impact that coverage had on their audience and engagement numbers. Join us for October’s Creative Conference Call where we’ll hear how four newsrooms covered the shows and whether it had any effect on their readership and if any lessons were learned.

We’re enchanted to announce the panelists from four local newsrooms joining us to talk about Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour’s impact on their newsrooms. We will discuss their mindsets approaching the tour coverage, any strategies or experimentation they used to reach a wider audience and what lessons they learned that will guide coverage of all kinds going forward. We’re excited to hear from the following participants:

  • Carolyn Fox, Managing Editor of the Tampa Bay Times (Eras Tour stop: Tampa, Fla., April 13-15)

Fox oversees breaking news, criminal justice, business, health, environment, culture, sports, and visual (photo and video) coverage. She is tasked with overall newsroom digital strategy and manages the team that runs tampabay.com and related digital products, such as social media.

  • C.J. Sinner, Director of Graphics & Data Visuals at the Star Tribune (Eras Tour stop: Minneapolis, Minn., June 23-24)

Sinner manages a team of four visual journalists who work on everything from daily-turn charts and maps to unique larger projects and digital storytelling to support the Star Tribune’s local journalism. She’s an alumna of the University of Minnesota and Columbia University, and previously worked in a variety of digital and visual roles at the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Bismarck (N.D.) Tribune before landing at the Star Tribune nine years ago.

  • Anna Boone, Digital designer at the Star Tribune
  • Hannah Wise, Assistant Managing Editor for Engagement & Experimentation at The Kansas City Star (Eras Tour stop: Kansas City, Mo., July 7-8)

Wise oversees digital strategy and audience engagement efforts. Previously she worked at The New York Times and Dallas Morning News.

  • Trevor Lenzmeier, Deputy Features Editor of the Seattle Times (Eras Tour stop: Seattle, Wash., July 22-23)
