In the next few weeks leading up to the annual SND Workshop & Exhibition in San Francisco, April 7-9, we’re going to bring you a weekly roundup of what people are saying about #SNDSF. It’s a helpful Monday guide to stories, tweets and posts you might have missed the previous week from speakers, members and us here at SND. Find something interesting? Give it a share and follow more of the conversation at #SNDSF on Twitter.

Design legend: Have you ever seen a Metropoli cover and had it give you a little more courage to take creative chances? Rodrigo Sanchez, art director for El Mundo and a SND Lifetime Achievement Award winner, will be a keynote speaker in San Francisco. Rodrigo answered some questions ahead of his return to the annual workshop. And he made a video for the Angie’s List Karaoke Night for SNDF to help raise money for future generations of visual journalists. Consider making a $10 contribution to SND Foundation in honor of Rodrigo Sanchez.

5 tips for #SNDSF: RedEye design director Alyson Morris shares how to make the most the workshop and a weekend in San Francisco. Look for more tips in the coming weeks from frequent workshop attendees.

Mobile and interactivity: Nieman Journalism Lab talks with ‪#SNDSF speaker Len De Groot and others on the advantages and challenges of mobile visualizations.

Design Thinking for Journalists: We’re excited to introduce a hands-on sessions at ‪#‎SNDSF‬ led by Stanford d.school’s Tran Ha and Bloc.io lead mentor Chris Courtney.

SNDMakes-SF: Lauren Katz shared some social media-minded encouragement to register for the event. Accepted participants should be notified today. Make sure to follow along April 4-6 as teams answer the question: “How might we grow the news and information design community through tools and digital experiences?”

Your guide to #SNDSF: Finalizing your travel plans for #SNDSF? San Francisco Chronicle designer and illustrator Christopher Fong shares his top 10 places to eat and drink (including both bargains and fancier meals). San Francisco is a foodie town though, so we’d suggest making a reservation. Also see his list of things to do and travel guide for getting to and from #SNDSF.

For students: We’ve announced the travel grant recipients for #SNDSF. Shout out to recipient Madisen Theobald for helping with this roundup. Any other students coming to San Francisco, don’t forget to register for the free student workshop on Thursday! Join us for a day long program filled with cool speakers and portfolio reviews.

We’ll be profiling #SNDSF speakers and sharing workshop updates and need to know at SND.org. And follow the hashtag #SNDSF on Twitter for more updates. To register for the workshop, which runs April 7-9 in San Francisco, click here. Space will be limited.
