The 38th edition of the Best of News Design print creative competition is upon us. The Call For Entries is available and will be sent to members soon. You can find the Call and all related entry forms here.
Translations will be posted soon to snd.org. U.S. deadline is Friday, January 27, 2017. International deadline is Friday, Feb. 3, 2017. Judging will take place from February 18-20, 2017, at the St. Petersburg Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Florida.
If you read one part of this, make it this paragraph: The primary takeaway this year is the new location for judging and sending entries — the competition is now organized, audited and held in Florida. The address to send entries this year is 38th Edition, Shamus Walker, SND Entries & Audit Director, 3464 16th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33713-5451, USA.
There are two other changes to The Call this year, and they relate to World’s Best Design and Editorial Cartoons:
Category 1, World’s Best Designed Newspaper: This year, the only requirements for entry are that each entry must consist of five complete editions, and each edition must be from a different week of the year. Entries with more than one edition from the same week will be disqualified.
Category 11D, Opinion/Editorial Cartoons: We have added subcategory 11Db, Editorial Cartoon Portfolios. For this category, enter six cartoons from the same artist, published any time in 2016 (in newspapers or magazines).
Category 20: We are continuing online entering for this category. Category 20 (Print/Digital Combination) must be entered online at snd.org/category20. For each entry, fill out the form and submit it. You may then print off your entry form and attach it to the print components of your entry. All Category 20 entries — U.S. and international — must be submitted online by February 2, 2017. The print portions may still be shipped with the rest of your entries and can arrive by the print deadlines.
