To help you get settled, a few quick FAQs.
How do I get to the Galt House or downtown from the airport?
You have a few options:
- Cab it. The driver already knows how to get to the Galt House. Yellow Cab has a flat “Airport to Downtown” rate of $19.95
- Shuttle it. Arrange your departing trip by calling 502-561-4022, or going to sandollarlimo.com It’s $15 one way, or $25 roundtrip.
- Walk it. This should get you downtown in about 3-4 hours.
- Run it. Much faster than walking
- Bus it. The #2 bus takes you to 5th & Market – two blocks from the Galt House – in about 30 minutes for only $.75.
- Helicopter it. I don’t have a quote for you on this cost, though it’s probably going to be expensive.
Where do I register?
If it’s before 5 p.m. Thursday, go to the main entrance of the Ali Center, which is just around the corner from the Galt House. You’ll find us there. After 5 p.m., we’ll set up for a short time by the Galt House registration desk. The registration desk will stay at the Galt House all of Friday and Saturday.
What if I arrive after registration closes?
No worries, you can register Friday morning or find Executive Director Stephen Komives at the opening Derby Gala.
Can I come to the opening Derby Gala if I don’t get to the registration desk in time?
Yes! Stephen Komives will have your badge and passes with him at the event.
What if I’m not registered for the workshop, but I’d like to attend the Derby Gala?
You can buy a reception-only pass for $50 here up until the event starts. After that, you can still purchase a ticket at the event for the same price.
How do I get to the Derby Gala at the Kentucky Derby Museum?
We’ll bus people from the Galt House anytime between 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The buses will be continuous, you shouldn’t be waiting more than 10 minutes for a bus to arrive – and there will probably be a bus waiting at all times. After that, you’ll need to find your own transportation. If you land late, you could always cab it from the airport to Churchill Downs, which are very close in proximity. Then you could hitch a ride with SND on the return trip to the Galt House.
