We are pleased to announce that Tyler Remmel will be stepping into the role of SND  Creative Competition Chair, starting with SND47 next year.

Tyler is a senior designer at The Washington Post, where he has worked for over six years. Prior to WaPo, he spent six years at Gannett Studios as a designer. Tyler is a graduate of Ashland University in Ohio. He attended his first workshop in 2013 after winning the Foundation’s scholarship in 2012. He began volunteering at the 2020 competition in St. Petersburg, Fla. and joined the Competition Committee shortly thereafter.

SND47 will mark his fifth competition as a committee member and his sixth appearance at an SND event.

We also want to take a moment to thank Greg Mees for his extraordinary leadership and years of dedicated service, especially over the past few years as Committee Chair. Greg has been instrumental in guiding the competition through a period of significant change, including the reimagining of our contest to better celebrate visual journalism across all platforms in one competition. His passion, vision, and commitment have left a lasting impact on the Society and the global visual journalism community.

Please join us in welcoming Tyler to this leadership role and in thanking Greg for his years of service as we look forward to another successful year of the SND Creative Competition.
