It’s almost time for Malofiej. The Malofiej Awards have since 1993 given recognition to the best infographicspublished in print and on-line across the globe. Every March an international jury meets for nearly four days at the School of Communication at the University of Navarra in Pamplona (Spain). They select those works worthy of gold, silver or bronze medals from among dozens of entries submitted to the competition.

After working for a consultancy & fintech company where she discovered her passion for the visualization of data, she’s now working as a freelancing data visualization designer under the name “Visual Cinnamon”. She focuses on uniquely crafted (interactive) data visualizations that both engage and enlighten its audience. Secretly, she wouldn’t mind venturing into data & generative art as well.
Aljaž Vindiš, Slovene digital product designer and visualisation expert, employed at 3fs
Slovene digital product designer and visualisation expert, employed at 3fs. Having a mixed background in computer engineering and visual communication allows him to explore their overlaps in human-computer interaction and the changing media landscape. He believes that data investigation and user participation are key to developing relevant products and services, as well as creating more informative and engaging content. Among other things, he used to head the infographics desk at Dnevnik, Slovenia’s second largest newspaper. They pioneered use of advanced data analysis and visualisation methods in Slovene journalism and achieved international recognition in fields of statistics, journalism and design, including the Best Map in Show at Malofiej 25.
Benedetta Signaroldi, Information designer at The Visual Agency
Information designer at The Visual Agency. Benedetta received her Master Degree in Communication Design at the Politecnico di Milano in 2013, with a thesis regarding the role of designer in cartography of controversies. Her thesis is the result of her collaboration with DensityDesignLab and her internship in the Sciences Po Médialab in Paris in 2012. Since 2014 she enjoys working on a variety of projects, focusing on information design and visual storytelling along with the creative team of The Visual Agency, an Italy-based communication agency specialized in data visualization.
Ángel García, infographist at Nuestro Diario
With almost 16 years in the business, he has worked for three of the most important newspapers in the country where he worked on strengthening infographics as a valuable journalistic resource. Among the prizes that he has won, the Malofiej, SND and ÑH awards stand out. He was part of the team that helped to ensure that Nuestro Diario (Our Daily Living) was the first to be recognised as the best designed popular newspaper at the ÑH16 awards, and the most award-winning newspaper in its category at ÑH17.
