About Our Speakers
Robin Jones
I’m currently serving as a manager at the Gannett Design Center. I lead a team of 12 designers and oversee the production of several papers in Ohio. Before that, I was a manager at the GateHouse Center for News Design in Austin, Texas. Previously, I also have worked at The Augusta Chronicle. While in Augusta, I was a copy editor before being promoted to digital media specialist. The last 2 years in Augusta, I was the News Desk Director, leading a small design hub for several Morris Communications papers. Last year, I moved back to the Augusta area with my husband.
Greg Manifold
As a member of The Washington Post’s senior leadership, he regularly works across departments to create bold visual presentations and collaborate on coverage. He’s responsible for leading, recruiting and helping guide the evolution of the editorial design team which handles digital projects, newspaper, magazine and social media platforms. The Post was honored as the only winner in the Society for News Design World’s Best-Designed digital competition in 2019. He also leads a team of projects editors involved in shaping The Post’s largest and most complicated newsroom offerings. Greg has earned just one byline in his close to 17 years at The Post — a 2020 feature on Fevzi Yazici’s artwork from his prison cell — a story which he hopes you will take the time to read.
Ted Kim
Innovator and creative thinker who is currently the Director, Newsroom Career Programs at The New York Times. He proposed, won approval for and built The New York Times Fellowship, a yearlong program that features intensive training and feedback, and a writing coach, and has led young people to jobs at The Washington Post, Bloomberg News, The Los Angeles Times and in our own newsroom.
