SND is reuniting, in-person, for the first time in three years.
The SND Events Committee has begun planning more than 15 virtual and in-person events for the remainder of 2022 and 2023. SND is gathering together some of the world’s most outstanding creators, makers, builders, thinkers, directors, and visionaries to share and inspire the future of visual communication.
Kicking off our return to in-person events and gatherings are two events in October 2022 in Washington, DC:
- SND Honors Dinner and Awards Presentation on Friday, October 21.
- Designing Success on Saturday, October 22.
Note: These are two separate events.
SND Honors, is an awards dinner honoring lifetime achievement recipients, World’s Best and JSR winners from the past few years. We will present awards to the following:
- Matt Mansfield – 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award
- Marco Hernandez – 2022 World’s Best Digital Designer
- Gabriel Gianordoli – 2021 World’s Best Digital Designer
- The Washington Post – 2020 World’s Best-Designed Digital News Experience
- Weekendavisen – 2021 World’s Best-Designed Newspaper
- de Volkskrant – 2021 World’s Best-Designed Newspaper
- De Zeit – 2022 World’s Best-Designed Newspaper
- The New York Times – 2020 World’s Best-Designed Newspaper and 2021 & 2022 World’s Best-Designed Digital News Experience
- American City Business Journals – 2021 Judges’ Special Recognition Award
Grab your coffee because Designing Success will be a quick-paced, one-day, single-track seminar showcasing presenters from around the world on Saturday, October 22.
Attendees will hear from 3-4 speakers in the morning and 3-4 speakers in the afternoon. They’ll learn how these speakers and organizations are constantly innovating to produce successful visual communications, and discuss strategies and best practices that you can apply in your own organization.
Both of these events are limited attendance events, so register soon.
Then in 2023, we are planning several more types of events for SND Members and the visual storytelling community.
- ½ – day workshops. Yes, think back to Quick Courses. These half-day workshops will consist of three (3) sessions and a social gathering and will be held regionally in local markets. Currently, the Events Committee is in discussions with individuals in East Lansing, Michigan and Philadelphia about hosting the first two of these events.
- 1-day Workshop. These are like the Annual Workshop and Exhibition, but faster and shorter. Single-track, theme focused events with a mix of inspirational and tangible learning sessions.
- Creative Conference Calls. These monthly virtual calls have been very popular and will continue in 2023. If you have ideas for sessions, or would like to present at one, please message the Events Committee at events@snd.org.
- Annual Workshop and Exhibition. Finally we can return to our biggest event of the year. We hope to share details as this efforts gets underway and we determine a location.
SND is excited to return to in-person events and we look forward to seeing many of our colleagues for the first time in three years.
