The Society for News Design is excited to announce the 2017 design competition for students across the globe. The SND Student Competition represents a collaboration between two of SND’s longest-standing student chapters, at Michigan State University and the University of Missouri.

We will be recognizing work across 16 categories.

The Missouri competition dates to 1988, and has featured the prestigious Student Designer of the Year award, whose recipients have gone on to become some of the most recognized names in the industry. The Michigan State competition was launched in 2000 as a way for students to enter work done not only for a campus publication, but also projects done for a class, a job or an internship.

This year, we’re combining the best aspects of both of the above efforts.

All currently enrolled college students, U.S. and international, may enter. Entries can be work done for a college class, a student publication, an internship or a job. Entries must be electronically submitted by Sunday, March 19, 2017 by 11:59 p.m., and must have been created since April 8, 2016.

Deadline: Sunday, March 19, 2017

Judging will take place in March and the Student Designer of the Year award will be presented at SND Charlotte in April.
