SND, IFRA join forces in Paris for cross-platform workshop

The first combined workshop from SND and IFRA, which just concluded in Paris, was an amazingly rich event. The conversation focused on a familiar topic – the integration of print and online design – but the answers participants worked toward were anything but ordinary. The diverse audience aimed to push toward solutions that would help inform the skills all design professionals need moving into the future.

Next multimedia deadline Oct. 7 for quarterly, annual awards!

The 2007-08 Best of Multimedia Design Competition (AKA SND.ies) is now closed. Winners of annual awards will be announced Sept. 8, 2008, at SND Las Vegas.

SND invites news organizations to submit multimedia journalism projects published July 1-Sept. 30 by Oct. 7, 2008, for quarterly and annual 2008-09 awards. See the details and look at all the previous winners here.

Varney named Competition Coordinator for 30th year

Dennis Varney, the lead sports designer at the Lexington Herald-Leader, has been named the 30th Edition Coordinator for SND’s upcoming Best of Newspaper Design™ Creative Competition. Marshall Matlock made the announcement in his role as the Competition Committee director, a position he has held for the past 20 years. Matlock is professor emeritus at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, the competition’s co-sponsor.
